Nature School 2025-26

“To raise a nature-bonded child is to raise a rebel, a dreamer, an innovator… someone who will walk their own verdant, winding path.” – Nicolette Sowder.

At Little House Farm Nature School, children step away from screens and schedules and into the gentle rhythms of the earth. Once a week, they gather on a homestead to explore the wonders of nature through each season. Our approach is rooted in Waldorf philosophy and supports the whole child through imagination, movement, and meaningful connection. We also weave in gentle somatic practices—like breath and sensory awareness, grounding exercises, and gratitude practices—helping children develop a lifelong sense of calm, presence, and inner knowing. With our original moon cycle curriculum guiding us through the lunar year, children grow in confidence, curiosity, and a deep reverence for the world around and within them. This is more than just outdoor play! It is a return to something essential.

Meet Miss Heather!

Miss Heather’s own nature education started at a young age, growing up on a farm in Sanpete County. At the age of 17 she worked at a high adventure base, which inspired her to get to a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management & Youth Leadership. Later she earned a Master’s degree in Education and a certification in yoga and permaculture design. She has worked with kids in the great outdoors at Beaver High Adventure Base, Philmont Scout Ranch, and Elevation Outdoors. This has accumulated to over 400 nights sleeping in a tent! She also taught Leadership and STEM for six years at a Williamsburg Academy Online Middle School. She opened the Nature School on her family’s little homestead in the fall of 2023. Heather has a particular fondness for the moon (and even wrote a book about it!), loves homesteading with her husband, homeschooling their son, and taking advantage of the many nature adventures throughout the Uintah Basin.
